Panoramic / Spherical Imaging

Sam O. Hirota, Inc. can deploy several different hardware platforms capable of producing high-resolution 360° panoramic images. Among them are the dedicated spherical imaging cameras, the SpheroCam HDR and the Seitz D3 Roundshot; the Z+F 5010 and 5010c scanners using the Z+F mcam and icam respectively; and the earthmine/Nokia MARS system. The systems were chosen for their excellent optics and proven software solutions and each excels in particular situations. 
SpheroCamHDR
  • Full spherical HDR images (360° x 180°)
  • Up to 26 f-stops of dynamic range
  • Resolution of up to 50 megapixels
  • 20 second to several minutes/scan depending on resolution, etc.
Seitz Roundshot D3
  • Full spherical/panoramic images 
  • 11 f-stops of dynamic range
  • Resolutions from 65 million pixels (16mm lens) to 1,471 million pixels (250mm lens)
  • Example scan time: 3 seconds with 80mm lens at full resolution

SOH recently produced 360° interactive images/virtual tours of the USS Arizona Memorial (SpheroCam), the International Marketplace main banyan tree and food court banyan, and the interior courtyard of the Honolulu Museum of Art (Z+F Imager 5010c).
